Wine School

Homework never tasted this good!

The truest art of wine lies not in being able to taste like a professional (although that is a great art unto itself), but in coaxing the exceptional flavors out of grapes when making superb wines. The more you understand about grapes, how they are grown, the effects of local growing conditions (terroir), and the choices involved when making the wines, the more you’ll appreciate the wines you drink.

Grapemasters Wine School focuses on giving people a hands-on approach to constructing wines, based on understanding the grapes and the conditions in which they are grown. Some topics covered in Wine School include:

  • The Wines of Bordeaux
  • Getting a Doctorate in Zinfandel
  • Sauvignon Blancs of New Zealand and The Loire Valley
  • Chardonnays of the World

What gets covered in a Wine School class? Here's what our last Chardonnay class was about:

  • History of the Chardonnay grape
  • Where is it grown and why
  • Vineyard factors that affect Chardonnay
  • Adjusting the must
  • Fermentation
  • Ageing the wine
  • Blending and filtration

Wine School is ideal for individuals looking for more knowledge about wine. It’s also a perfect group activity for corporations or other social groups. Since the language of Wine School is perfectly understandable English, not scientific jargon, everyone will walk away more confident in their wine knowledge and better able to control their wine from grape to barrel to bottle.

Each session of Wine School lasts 90-120 minutes and can be complemented by hands-on winemaking experience, truly making your wine your own.

Many thanks for your assistance in the creation of some truly awesome wine.  Without a lie, it is a liquid from the gods, and without your help, it would not have reached this status.
